Exercises for Enhancing Your BodySmart

The 8 Kinds of Smart are already within each us! It's part of our nature as human beings. However, as you've discovered from your SmartProfile™ not all of the intelligences are equally developed.

As I mentioned in the introduction to the SmartProfile™ Information & Management Center some of your intelligences are strong and highly developed. Others are emerging. While still others are in various states of latency or are simply asleep!

But again, the good news is that any underdeveloped intelligence can be enhanced, improved, and otherwise strengthened. The following set of exercises are designed to help you "awaken" your less developed intelligences and help grow those intelligence areas that need some help.

INSTRUCTIONS

During the coming week experiment with the follow set of exercises. The goal of these exercises is:

1) To help you become more aware of how much BodySmart is part of your everyday life,

2) To increase your comfort level for working with this intelligence, and

3) To help you build your BodySmart capacities.

The exercises are designed to help you understand the BodySmart capacities which are already inside you just waiting to be awakened. Do each exercise once a day.

Enjoy this. It's not a difficult as it may seem, in fact, it's really quite fun!.

EXERCISE 1:
Experiment with different kinds of walks during the day, such as a slow, reflective walk, a brisk, energy-filled, determined walk, and a skipping or a joyful walk. Note how these different kinds of walks affect your mood.

EXERCISE 2:
Several times during the day, stop and focus on the feedback you are receiving from your body related to what is happening in your external situation. What is your body saying to you?

EXERCISE 3:
When you are relating to other people, pay special attention to their body language. Notice their posture, gestures, movements, and facial expressions. What do these add to what they are saying? How does your body language enhance your communication?

EXERCISE 4:
Practice using your non-dominant hand to perform a variety of activities you usually perform with your dominant hand without thinking.

EXERCISE 5:
Before performing a usually taken-for-granted physical activity pause and think your way through each step of the activity. Then do it. Notice how you actually perform it. Do it again. See if you can bring thinking about the action closer to the actual performance.

EXERCISE 6:
When performing a routine task, stop and add awareness of your feet to the task. Continue the task, but maintain this foot awareness. Stop and add another body part to your awareness. Continue the task but don’t loose the awareness of any new parts you add.
